History of Faculty

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1976. After the Faculty of Electrical Engineering had been founded in 1977, both of the faculties were unified  in 1982 under the name of the Faculty of Engineering of Uludağ University, which was composed of Electronics, Mechanical and Textile Engineering departments. At present, the faculty has been carrying on its educational program in six departments, which are Electronics, Mechanical, Textile, Industrial and Environmental Engineering Departments and Architecture Department. In the Faculty, the Department of Civil Engineering has been established, but no student has been taken up to now. In all departments of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, an educational program assisted in Foreign Language Training has been going on.
The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture has got six buildings in Görükle Campus, all of which cover an area of 15.220 m2 , in which nineteen classes, twenty-nine labs of different sizes, seven computer labs, three libraries, two technical drawing halls, a meeting hall, a room for commission meetings, a seminar hall and a cafeteria for students take place.

Our students can also benefit from the services of software such as Unigraphics, IDEAS, ANSYS, Catia, and Fluent, which can be reached through computer labs, various compliers and software such as AutoCad, Matlab, Pascal, C++, Delphi etc. which work in PCs.

In the workshops which are equipped with necessary instruments and machines so that they can serve two basic purposes, the students of our faculty have their first term training and also manufacturing studies related to research work are carried out.

The first goal of the Technology Foundation of the Faculty Engineering and Architecture of Uludağ University is to contribute to train engineers and architects who have excellent characters, and who are loyal to the principles of M. Kemal Atatürk, and who have a sense of contemporary science and who are equipped with investigation and research abilities. Moreover, some basic objectives of the foundation are to develop the co-operation between industry and university, to perform scientific and technological studies related to research and development and support them. In 1996, within the structure of the Foundation, an important business enterprise named UTEV, Scientific and Technical Research, Counsellorship and Educational Services Company was set up. Its fundamental purposes are to render services of research, counselor-ship and education to industrial and commercial institutions and to satisfy several needs of not only our students but also our staff in the fields of education and scientific research and development.
